Iktara is a Musical Duo of Gautam (Left) and Nikhil (Right) who released their Debut Musical Release in Hindi, Skyas in 2010.
In 2012, Iktara started working on their 2nd Album “Maiden’s Story“, which has six songs, penned down by both Gautam and Nikhil at different stages of their lives. After lyrics met melodies at the Crossroads, idea behind Maiden’s Story was born.
Gautam ventured into the world of English poetry in 2001 and by a stroke of inspiration moved on into Urdu poetry in 2003. Gautam met Nikhil (the other Iktarian) in 2006 and both immediately struck a chord together of similar passions – Song writing and Music composition. Nikhil started learning Guitar in his College days in 2001 and at times – performed with Parikrama (Indian Music Group) in 2004 as part of Parikrama School of Music concerts. Combination of Gautam’s writing skills and Nikhil’s knack of coming up with impromptu rich melodies is the life force of Iktara’s Music.
Iktara’s Music: Their Music speaks of simple things in life. About dreams, desires and a never-ending quest. The music of Iktara transcends all known boundaries and will revive the feelings that you may have lost somewhere along the mundane corners of life.
Iktara is an ancient one stringed instrument traditionally played mostly by Fakirs and wandering Ascetics in the Indian Sub-continent. Iktara – in spite of its one string is a complete melodious instrument in itself, which emphasizes the phenomenon of Completeness in Nothingness.
